In Malaya:
In connection with the operations of 2/30 Battalion from the Battle of
Gemas on 14th January, 1942 until capitulation on 15th February, 1942,
a number of Recommendations for Decoration were made by the Commanding
Officer of 2/30 Battalion, "Black Jack" GALLEGHAN.
The recommendations were made in early 1942, and some were recorded
in the diary of the Commanding Officer, 27 Australian Infantry Brigade,
Brigadier D.S. Maxwell, which he kept during captivity.
A number of awards were also given to members of the 2/30th for their
actions whilst Prisoners of War.
