Nominal Roll details

Military Medal (MM)

"This NCO did exceptional work as Acting Platoon Sgt. at SIMPANG RENGAM on 28 January, 1942. On that day an enemy party estimated at a strength of over 50 men commenced to attack his Platoon and this NCO, despite the heavy fire, organised and led his Platoon forward to attack the enemy force, resulting in the force rapidly withdrawing, leaving behind over 50% killed. This outstanding courage. leadership and initiative had a very marked effect on the events of that day, when a force of over one Battalion strength was being used to try to dislodge my Unit from it's position.

I consider this NCO, by his bravery, courage and leadership is worthy of reward and I recommend he be awarded the Military Medal."
