Members of the Battalion who
had been sent to Japan, were recovered from various POW camps. They were
scattered throughout Japan, and were eventually moved to Manila by plane
or ship. Here they were
housed at an American base until transport became available to get them
home. Some had to
wait for several weeks but they eventually boarded the HMS Striker on
22/9/1945 for the trip to Sydney.
