In late August, 1945, members of 2nd Australian POW Reception Group, 2/14 AGH, and other troops, travelled to Singapore aboard Duntroon to establish reception camps for released Australian Prisoners of War. Duntroon departed Sydney on 27/8/1945, called at Darwin on 4/9/1945 and arrived in Singapore on 13/9/1945. She was accompanied by Arawa  and HMAS Hawkesbury.

At Singapore, the troops disembarked and Duntroon was then loaded with ex-Prisoners of War. She left Singapore, with Arawa, on 20/9/1945 bound for Darwin, and then proceeded to Brisbane, where the men were held on board for a couple of weeks to recuperate.

Duntroon then sailed south to Sydney, where she arrived on 7/10/45.
