A number of injured soldiers were evacuated from Singapore by Hospital
Ship on 10 and 11/2/1942. They headed to Batavia, where they boarded
another Hospital Ship for the trip to Colombo.
On arrival in Ceylon, they were transferred to 12 AGH, where they spent
their time recovering, before being repatriated to Australia.
The Hospital Ship, Katoomba, departed Colombo on 16/4/1942, and
headed via Mauritius and the southern ocean to avoid enemy shipping,
before arriving in Fremantle. She then headed to Adelaide where the
soldiers disembarked on 13/5/1942.
