Departed by train from Bathurst July 1941; arrived Fremantle August 1941

An advance party of the 27th Brigade travelled by train from Bathurst to Fremantle, where they embarked Convoy US11B for the voyage to Singapore. They linked up with the other personnel who had travelled on the troopships from Sydney and Melbourne.

Various files at the Australian War Memorial and the National Archives of Australia include information about the troops numbers that travelled to Western Australia by train. Instructions given to the Convoys, and troop movements, were subject to last minute changes, so there are some differences in the counts from the various source documents.
