So you can see that the night was that we wished it to be, and the Committee would like to give the full credit for the whole show to Messrs. Blanshard, Ellis add Friend who arrange these things. They are trying to dob on another dance in August.

If you were at the last General Meeting you might remember a small shield we had an display there. It was a solid block of wood about 11" x 8", highly polished, to which was fixed a stainless steel shield. We now have some and they are a beautiful job. In the centre of the shield is a burnished Rising Sun and beneath it a large Red Cross, the colour patch of the A.A.N.S. and the rest of the shield is covered with all the colour patches, in true colours, of the 8th Div. Units in Malaya.

I have bought one myself and I do not think you will ever see another 8th Div. Souvenir in the same class. A shield will cost you 43/9 and you may obtain them by sending that sum to V.E. Thomson, 38 Bay Street, Double Bay.

We received information last month, too late for inclusion in the May Circular, that Rex Rowe placed a battalion wreath on the Murwillumbah Cenotaph an Anzac Day, and also a full report from the Singapore Free press of the dawn ceremony on Anzac Day, when Garry Rickwood, Malcolm MacDougall and Ted Watt placed a huge wreath in remembrance of Fallen Comrades. They are good publicity agents evidently because the Press notices gave a lengthy account of the Gemas show with trimmings.

New baby sons to "Chook" Fowler and "Jock" MacDougall and, although you won't believe it, Jack McNamara is once again a proud father after all these years and he doesn't care, who knows it.

Fred Winter has done the right thing and made it a partnership and Tommy Davis of the same district has just finished a C.R.T.S. course as a carpenter, at Grafton Technical College.

Dave Tate has a cane farm on the Richmond River and Bob Wright of H.Q. Coy is still in the Army.

Reg Nossiter broke his knee while stepping on to a bus and has spent the last five months on his back. To make matters worse, he insists that he was sober, just as I did, when I fell down the stairs last year and broke my wrist.

You are entitled to claim £2.2.5 for lost kit and, if you want to do so, write this today, "To Capt. D.R. Angus, Brig. A.D.M. Eastern Command - I wish to claim for re-imbursement for loss of personal property, under authority M.B. 1 34/46.

My Regimental Number was NX..... and my Unit 2/30 Bn A.I.F.

Send that letter and you will receive three small forms on which you must state that you have purchased 4 handkerchiefs, One Mirror and two pairs of pyjamas since you returned name. Ask a J.P. to sign the statement, send it off to Capt. Angus and you will receive a cheque within three weeks.

As a special request of my own would you refrain from ringing me at my place of work, because, although I like it myself, they start to mutter into their beards, when the telephone rings and I find it rather uncomfortable.

Any Member of the Association, who has not, paid his year's subs by the 30th June will fall into the unfinancial category.

Jackie Boss is engaged to Reg Ellis' attractive daughter. That's a good thing, but you should hear Jackie calling Reg Ellis, Dad!

Cheerio,

STAN ARNEIL.
