Hon. Secretary: S.F. Arneil, Esq.

2/30TH BATTALION A.I.F., ASSOCIATION
C/- Stan Arneil,
984
Victoria Road,
WEST RYDE.

Dear Dig,

Your association is growing bigger and bigger every month but as yet we have not enrolled all members of the Unit mainly because chaps keep "putting it off until next week" with the result that we can be a lot stronger yet. This Association belongs to you, you can never get away from the 30th Battalion because, our unfortunate years, made the Unit a family affair.

Well, this is your chance to keep in touch, very easily, with each other. If you want to know:

A. Whether Sgt. Don Garner's moustache is still as black as it used to be,

B. How many causalities were suffered anywhere,

C. What's the address of a deceased member's next-of-kin,

D. How to get in touch with anybody in the Unit, then the Association is at your service.

Write to the Hon. Secretary with any queries re the Unit and let me know any points of interest re members, this will be of particular interest to some of our lads who are now in Queensland, Scotland and England and have not the opportunity of seeing one person from the Unit, this is a little different from Sydney where one can neither walk past a pub without being pushed in for a glass of ale, nor hop on a tram without seeing "Two Finger" Mick Cutler's face, grinning madly as he screams "Fares please,"

Now on the 15th January there will be a simple little ceremony at the Cenotaph at 1.30 p.m. The Association will lay a laurel wreath in memory of Fallen Comrades. This is a special day for us and all members of the Unit in Sydney on that day are requested to assemble opposite the Cenotaph in Martin Place on the G.P.O. steps at 1.25p.m. Last year, without notice to members, we had twenty, this year we want more.

On the 15th February, one month later, at 7.30 p.m. all members of the Division will fall in at Angel Place and march to the Cenotaph where a wreath will be placed by an O.R. who will be chosen that night. This is no officers' show, gents, so come along if you can.

In passing I want you to know that this Association has nothing to do whatsoever with any 8th Div. Association under the Presidency of a Mr. Wallace, I believe that his Association may be marching to the Cenotaph at 8 o'clock from the top of Martin Place with brass bands and all the trimmings, well, that may be alright, I suppose, but the official ceremony should cover you.

Angel Place, 7.30 p.m., Feb, 15th.

Won't last more than 15 minutes.

Send me your subs and get me the addresses of these chaps, if you can

F.J, ARNETT
M.W. ANDERSON - Late

W.J. ANDERSON - Late Newtown.
