2/30 Bn. A.I.F.
Singapore,
14 April, 1943

COMMITTEE

The Secretary,
2/30 Bn. Comforts Fund Association,
Phoenix House,
67 Pitt Street
, Sydney, N.S.W.

Dear Madam,

Appended hereunder are details of the nature and objects of the 2/30 Bn. A.I.F. Association. Preliminary steps In the formation of this Association have already been taken during this units incarceration at Changi, Singapore.

Owing to the fact that the greater majority of the members of the Central Executive are being moved to Thailand with the main body of Bn, it is felt that those remaining in Singapore, together with others already departed to other destinations, may be the first to return home.

It is appreciated that the most favourable time to collect initial subscriptions from members will be immediately following their discharge, but it is more than likely that members of the Central Executive will still be overseas when the early parties return and are demobilised. Accordingly it would be greatly appreciated if your Assoc. could act for us in the collection of membership fees & issue interim receipts for same pending the arrival & the setting up of our own organisation.

Requisite power exists for this, & copies of the relative resolutions appear below.

Moved by Capt. Howells, seconded by Cpl. Evans, ‘that each member of the Central Executive be given a form of letter addressed to the secretary of the 2/30 Bn Comforts Fund outlining (a) the formation & objects of the Association, (b) a list of the names of members of the Central Executive & containing a request that their Association’s Committee act on behalf of the 2/30 Bn. A.I.F. Association in the collection & custody of monies & to issue interim receipts for monies paid by applicants for admission to membership of the 2/30 Bn. A.I.F. Association. Any monies so received to be held pending the arrival in Australia of the Central Executive of the 2/30 Bn. A.I.F. Association.
