COMMITTEE

2/30 BATTALION A.I.F. ASS0CIATION

C/- J.H. Cooper,
105 Pitt Street.,
SYDNEY

Dear Sir,

I have been directed to inform you that the Annual General Meeting of the 2/30 Bn. A.I.F. Association will be held at the R.S.S.A.I.L.A., City of Sydney Sub-Branch rooms, 21 Macquarie Place, Sydney on Friday, 29th March, 1946 at 7.45 p.m. As this will be our First Association meeting in Australia, we trust you will keep the date free and do everything possible to ensure your attendance.

The positions of Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer will have to be filled at this meeting. You are reminded that nominations for these positions must be in writing and in the hands of the Acting Hon. Secretary one week prior to the date fixed for the meeting.

As a matter of interest, the Central Executive, at its last meeting, accepted the responsibility of publishing the unit history. Under present circumstances, there are many difficulties to be over before the publication can be launched. At present it appears that the cost, using only the best materials obtainable, will be in the vicinity of 25/-. Members will later be asked to make application for copies.

The date of the Battalion Reunion, subject to satisfactory results from enquiries now being made will be held at Easter.

The Battalion will have its first opportunity since its return to Australia, of marching as a body in the Anzac Day celebrations next month. The march will be organised by the Unit and full particulars will be available to you through the press.

Members of the Battalion who have not completed a membership form are asked to do so at the earliest possible opportunity. Some, in forwarding the form, enclosed remittance covering Entrance Fee only, omitting to include an Annual Subscription or Life Membership. It would be appreciated if members would forward the correct amount.

The number of men who have joined the Battalion Association to date, and the large percentage who have been subscribed to life membership, is most gratifying and augurs well for the future of the Association.

It is expected that there will be a good representation of the Battalion at the meeting next month.

Yours faithfully,

J.R. STONER
Acting Hon. Secretary
