The main Battalion position was located on the Gemas-Tampin road, near the 61 mile peg. The area was occupied from 12/1/42 until a fierce battle with the Japanese on 15/1/42.

A road block made up of concrete cylinders was set up here to halt the enemy advance, following the ambush at Gemencheh Bridge the previous afternoon.

Battalion casualties were 11 Killed in action (KiA), 1 Died of Wounds (DoW), 7 Missing presumed dead (MpD), and 48 Wounded in action (WiA). A total over the two days, of 20 killed or presumed dead, and 58 wounded.
