"J" Force departed Singapore on 15/5/1943 on board Wales Maru. They took 23 days to reach Japan and during the trip the convoy was attacked by Allied forces.

There were 50 members of the Battalion in this party, and when they reached Japan they were taken to Kobe, and moved to Kobe House.
