Gemencheh Bridge

The Memorial located at the site of the bridge over the Gemencheh River, where the 2/30 Battalion ambushed the Japanese on 14 January, 1942.
The text incorrectly lists the year of the ambush as 1941, instead of 1942, and reads as follows:
"KELEMAH RIVER MEMORIAL
The memorial was built as a remembrance of Australian battalion and Japanese troop who were killed in a battle between Australian Battalion 2/30 and the Japanese soldiers on 14 January 1941 (sic). Austrlian (sic) army exploded the wooden bridge across Sungai Gemencheh in Kampung Sungai Kelamah which conected Tampin and Gemas. Many Japanese soldiers were killed. On 15 January 1941 (sic), a group of Japanese soldiers arrived and forced the Australian army to retreat to Segamat."
