Sydney War Cemetery
The Sydney War
Cemetery is located within Rookwood Necropolis
and is adjacent to the NSW Garden of
Remembrance. The War Cemetery includes the
graves of service personnel who died during Word
War II, or soon after.
One member of the
2/30th, NX78142 - Pte. William John ANDERDOWN,
is buried in this cemetery.

NSW Garden of Remembrance, Rookwood Necropolis, Sydney
The Office of
Australian War Graves, part of the Department of
Veterans Affairs, maintains Gardens of
Remembrance in all capital cities of Australia.
The NSW Garden of Remembrance was established in
the early 1960s, and is located within the
Rookwood Necropolis in Sydney.
Veterans who are
entitled to be commemorated in the Gardens
include those whose deaths are accepted as due
to war service, and ex-Prisoners of War. Each
eligible veteran is commemorated by a small
brass plaque, which includes their name, Service
Number, date of death and age at death.
