  • Following the Allied surrender, on 15th February 1942, the remaining members of the 2/30 Battalion became prisoners of the Japanese. Many did not survive to see the end of the war.

  • A total of 310 members of the Battalion died during the period of captivity. Including casualties during the campaign, 394 did not live to see Australia again. (Source: Galleghan's Greyhounds)
