The 2/30th Battalion Commemorative Plaque is located in the Western Courtyard, near the gravel steps, that lead up to the sculpture of Simpson and his Donkey.

 

The plaque has been placed on the concrete kerb, at the foot of the steps, on the right hand side.

When was the Plaque Dedication Ceremony?

Tuesday, 20th March, 2007

Ceremony commenced at 10.00 a.m.

Program

A special ceremony was held to dedicate a Plaque in memory of the men who served with 2/30 Battalion AIF.

Order of Service - commenced at 10.00 am

  • Welcome address - Steve Gower AO, Director, Australian War Memorial

  • Opening prayer - Chaplain Geoffrey Traill

  • Commemorative address - Mr Iain Huntley, President, 2/30th Battalion AIF Association

  • Unveiling of Commemorative Plaque - Mr Alex Dandie, Patron, 2/30th Battalion AIF Association and Mr Bill Desmet, 2/30th Battalion AIF Association

  • Dedication of Plaque - Chaplain Geoffrey Traill

  • Lament

  • The Ode - Mr James Busine, 2/30th Battalion AIF Association

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
