NX37426 - HATFIELD, Eric Edward, Pte. - C Company HQ Admitted to 2/4 CCS on 3/1/1942 (Malaria); transferred to 13 AGH on 4/1/1942; discharged to GBD on 23/1/1942; rejoined Unit on 2/2/1942; escaped with 2 other soldiers whilst POW and lived in Mandai jungle, Singapore; spent time with Guerrillas in Malaya, but caught by Japanese in May 1943; spent 5 months in Outram Rd Gaol; executed (beheaded) by Japanese on 6/12/1943; Mention in Dispatches (MiD) Posthumous
