Letter from Black Jack
|
Copy of a letter from Black Jack to Jim Moynihan regarding his father's citation.
The letter reads:
"Dear Jim,
The attached is a copy of a citation I wrote for your fathers outstanding services.
It was submitted in Changi on 1-3-42 and repeated after the war. The enclosed original is an extract from my draft copy of citations. The attached is the carbon copy of my submission.
I regret very much that your fathers bravery was not more formally recognised by the award of the M.M. which I recommended and which he richly deserved. I hope this will be a source of pride to you and your family, of a very gallant soldier who served the 2/30 Bn with distinction.
Yours sincerely
F.G. Galleghan"
