When is Gemas Day?


Sunday, 13th January, 2019

  • 11.00am to 2.00pm

Where is it held?

2/17 Battalion, Royal NSW Regiment Depot, 2 Suakin Street, Pymble

  • From Ryde Road, turn left into West Street, continue straight ahead into Suakin Street, and go to top of the rise.

  • Please park in the area indicated by the 2/17 Bn. Guides on duty.

  • Find it in Google Maps


  • The days events are organised by the 2/17 Battalion, and volunteers

  • Please bring a food plate, as a contribution to the light luncheon


10.30 a.m.

  • Upon entering the Depot, please put your luncheon contribution on the table provided at the entrance, collect your name tag, sign the attendance book and proceed to the audience seating

10.50 a.m.

  • Please be seated. Those marching in the Parade, form up adjacent to the Drill Hall entrance

10.55 a.m.

  • MC gives a "Welcome to All" and introduces the VIPs

11.00 a.m. Sharp

  • Parade Commander announces "Parade. Quick March" and all those who have formed up, march to the Parade Ground

  • When Parade members are in position the Bugler sounds "Fall In" and the Pipes and Drums march the Catafalque Party to the Memorial

 11.10 a.m.

  • MC conducts Service

  • President gives brief address and introduces the Guest Speaker

  • Wreaths will be laid by the Guest Speaker, followed by other Official groups and family representatives

  • On completion, the names of those who have answered the Last Call will be read, and Prayers will be offered by the Reverend Minister for the day

  • The bugler will sound "Last Post", "The Ode" will then recited, followed by the sounding of "Reveille"

 11.45 a.m.

  • The Parade will march off to "Waltzing Matilda", followed by the Pipes and Drums and Catafalque Party

  • Light luncheon will follow in the undercover area adjacent to the Depot entrance

 2 p.m.

  • General Clean Up and vacate Depot.
