2/30 Battalion, Australian Imperial Forces, 8th Division
Formed during November 1940 in Tamworth, N.S.W., the Battalion was led by Lieutenant Colonel 'Black Jack' Galleghan and became known as Galleghan's Greyhounds. The 2/30th served in Malaya and Singapore until the fall of Singapore on 15th February 1942, when they became Prisoners of War of the Japanese.
The story of the 2/30 Battalion is one of men who beat the odds as defiant soldiers, resilient prisoners and determined survivors of life.
